The GS1 launches a completely new architecture in wingsuit design and includes amazing features unseen on any wingsuit to date. The philosophy in designing our first production model was to prioritise the creation of an optimum three-dimensional aerodynamic for a human being flying with wings. Hence the radical new architecture designed to optimise glide and stability.
The wings for the GS1 attach on a line high up towards the back of the body exposing the whole torso and leg of the body to airflow. Observe the position of wings on a bird and most other flying creatures - they are positioned on the back of the creature and the body hanging below acts as a keel and rudder in flight. THEORY: The centre of gravity is lowered and the oscillations and slides of the airfoil are corrected. Stability and solidity in the air is thus achieved. Forward speed is enhanced by a smooth and balanced trajectory of the flying body. Steering and control are also improved.
The body of the GS1 suit is engineered to perfectly accommodate the natural shape of a human body hanging horizontally in the air, while the wing above remains largely unaffected, maintaining its aerodynamic profile without excess “correcting” of body position to achieve performance from the wing. This is expected to deliver a more relaxed and comfortable flying experience, less effort being required to “max” the wing performance.

The wings for GS1 have an ultra-streamlined profile with the “rig box” set into the wing. The wing includes the “deflector” of old and is raised to almost the same level as the top of the rig, to make one continuous aerodynamic profile and wing surface. Ribs are all shaped to match and accommodate the effect of air pressure on fabric, and extra half-ribs provide the sharpest possible trailing edges on wings.
The profile and cross section of the GS1 is unique and offers a deeply contemplated solution to the problem of creating a more consistent aerodynamic for the two flexible components of wingsuit flight – fabric and human body.
And that’s not all…
The GS1 is called the Glide SYSTEM because of a unique detachable and interchangeable wing system. The idea was to create a suit that offered flexibility and real value by allowing the possibility to enjoy various flight experiences with the same basic suit. A newcomer to the sport can start with our Rookie Wings (to be revealed shortly on this website) and in time, by simply exchanging the wings move up to a wing for more advanced pilots like the classic SugarGlider wing (as shown below and in the gallery pictures), and beyond….
The idea is to make the development of our wingsuits an interactive experience with our market. We have a range of very exciting new wing designs in the pipeline and each will offer a different flying experience, certain wings being best adapted for particular uses and aims. The debate rages on – what works in wing design? The GS1 will keep you at the cutting edge of our pioneering design agenda.
Additional tailwings….
The GS1 not only has interchangeable “arm wings” but also has a unique adaptation for adding different tail wings. The suit comes with a basic tail wing which is cut back to a minimum to balance with the smaller arm wing options. The add-on tail wings are designed for use with bigger wings and will extend to optimum lengths to suit a particular wing option. The close-up reveals of additional tail wings will be made shortly on this website.
Swiss-made Riri™ zips are used throughout the suit and to attach the wing options. For strength and quality specs, please visit the Riri website.
Other features and specs:
• Neoprene collars and heel grips for comfort and stretch
• Moulded rubber heel add drive to wings
• Leather soles on boot
• Double zipper in front
• Single action puller tab on leg zip
• Adjustable slots for harness / emergency handles
• Hook knife pocket
• Stash pocket
• Suit comes in stash bag to hold suit connected to rig.
• Fabrics from Gelvenor – double ripstop ZP
• Total weight of suit - 1.42kg
• Original design cutaway system
What about…..
• Pull time?
Although the rig is submerged into the “rig box ©” for aerodynamic efficiency, access to the hackey is in no way obscured. The design of the wing does not allow for the repositioning of the BOC pouch on the leg for example.

• Safety of zip-off wings?
The safety of the detachable wing system is our top priority and the main criteria for choosing Riri™ zips as our method of attachment. Swiss made Riri zips are of undisputed quality and have been tested to the most rigorous standards. Zips are supplied with a tooth-count that ensures that additional new wings will fit precisely on your custom-made suit.
• Run-off and stride?
A single action is required to release and pull the leg-zips and clips are provided to keep the bootees out of the way for landing, however the spread of the tail wing is wide enough to allow a reasonable stride if necessary.
• Quality of materials, construction and weight?
Supplied by Gelvenor, the best quality, zero porosity double ripstop fabric is used, as well as durable oxford nylon for reinforcing. Best quality polyfill corespun thread is used throughout. A lightweight final product was envisioned and even with all the features and durable finishes included in the GS1 the entire suit weighs only 1.45kgs.
• Production line: Our integrated facility is organised for the sole purpose of the design and manufacture of wingsuits. Stringent quality control and checks are integral to the production line, from materials to cutting and sewing and finishing. A very experienced team works on the principle of “Best Practice” throughout the production chain. Your Jii-Wings products are despatched with a quality control checklist.
• Service and support: As a brand new wingsuit company we are still in the process of establishing our international support network, however we guarantee the quality of our product and service and will attend promptly to any requests and queries.
• Instruction manual and network: We are compiling an instruction manual to accompany each suit. A number of Wingsuit Instructors internationally are to receive demo suit shortly. The first 100 suit will be sold with the SugarGlider wing only and are intended for use by advanced pilots. We hope that in a few months we will have established an instruction network for newcomers and less advanced pilots.
